The Dermalux LED Phototherapy Equipment was designed and manufactured in Great Britain and has won prestigious Aesthetics Awards in 2013, 2014 and 2015.

The Dermalux machine uses a non-thermal light energy to effectively and safely treat a vast range of skin conditions. These include sun damage, acne, rosacea and redness, sensitive and inflammatory conditions, wound healing, and scarring. It can also improve uneven skin tones and overall skin health.

It is a non-invasive, pain free treatment which gives you a feeling of wellbeing and relaxation. It is advertised as having no downtime, meaning you can carry on with your day as normal and no time off work is needed.

In addition to its aforementioned skin benefits the light can also increase serotonin levels which can relieve stress and tension. You may feel a mild warmth due to the stimulation of the circulation. It is a heat free treatment and does not contain any harmful UV wavelengths. It has been certified to work on all skin types including dark skin types and sensitive skin.

Many will question how many treatments are needed to attack the specific skin concern. This completely depends on which areas you need to focus on and how damaged the skin is. Although your clinician will give you an individual treatment plan to tackle your skin concern, the typical amount of treatments will be 6 sessions over a 3 week period. At this point, results can be evaluated between client and practitioner and the best skin care route forward can be plotted.

Acne: results are progressive, reduction in redness and pore size within 7-10 days and reduction in spots within 2-4 weeks.  Peak results should be seen within 4-8 weeks.

Inflammatory skin: the results will depend on the skin condition but are noticeable within 3 weeks from the start of the course.

Skin rejuvenation: You may see visible affects immediately with plumpness, radiance, hydration and any redness or irritation may have reduced.

The Dermalux machine uses three different wavelengths that are each clinically proven to deliver results. They can be used individually or together; this depends on the treatment required. The three different light waves are red, near infra-red and blue light each having specific skin healing properties. The wavelength determines depth of penetration and therefore the individual structures that are being targeted.

Blue Light

The blue light is effective in treating all grades of acne and preventing breakouts without provoking the skin using anti-bacterial properties. The great thing about this treatment is that there is no downtime meaning you can have up to one session a day. This will mean the skin concern can be treated quickly and efficiently with rapid results.

Red Light

The red light stimulates a skin rejuvenating and anti-inflammatory effect on the skin by enhancing cell function and cell proliferation. It expands the synthesis of collagen and activates the microcirculation and lymphatic system. It helps to stimulate and hydrate circulation in the skin which gives the skin a boost which reduces fine lines and slows down the anti-ageing process.

Near Infra-red light

The near infra-red light has a powerful anti-inflammatory effect which quickens the cell and tissue repair and release of growth factors. It is the most deeply absorbed wavelength out of the three lights and works well with the red light to produce collagen and elastin. This light is used to treat rosacea, redness and psoriasis. It helps counteract the visible signs of ageing and skin damage by reducing fine lines and wrinkles.
